MR. Eberhart's Classes 2020  Room 2180  and Virtual Learning Experience.

American Government and American Government Honors:  The course is designed to teach students something about how people behave politically and about the design of the American political system; that is, how the system is structured and how it functions as a pluralistic system of various individual and group interests, all promoting their own agendas as to what they claim is important and beneficial for the country.

The major purpose of this course is to help students gain and display an understanding of American politics and the processes of government that help shape our public policies. Students should begin to learn about the methods of studying political behavior and political institutions.

This will be a course that will require input from everyone as we explore American Government.  This course will require weekly homework completion, critical reading, and writing components.  The amount of rigor required in this class is to prepare students to be active and engaged citizens in our community and country.  Additionally, it will prepare students to use critical thinking skills in their post-secondary education and the work force.  As young adults the responsibility is on you to stay current and to keep yourself organized.  This website is only a tool and not meant to replace the class.   Come to class, do your best, turn in your work on time, and you will prosper.  If not then I encourage you to come to my tutorials on Wednesday.

This is an election year!  This is also a year full of current issues that are directly impacting people around the United States of America.  From COVID-19, BLM, protests, to State-Wide unrest.  We stand at a precipice to observe and explore these exciting times.

To close this course will very different from what you have witnessed in the past.  We are an I.B. school so the bulk of the work is on student inquiry.  You will have to interpret many primary sources, be critical in your analysis of them and then report your findings .  Good luck!

High School Transitions:

All my classes will challenge you.  Never give up, there is support and resources available to you so that you can succeed in this class.  If you have any concerns or need any extra help my tutoring hours are on Wednesday from 3:45 - 4:45.

The main reason students fail is that they do not keep up on the classwork activities.  Daily classroom activities build skills and reinforce the lesson of the day.  On average students are given 30 minutes to work on class activities, that way they do not have homework.  However if the student fails to manage their time the activaty becomes homework.  I will always acept work after the due date, but I encourage you to get things done in time as everything is built to prepare you for my exams.

Virtual Reality:

This is a unique experience.  You will be held to the standards and you will be held accountable.  Come to the virtual class everyday and complete all your assignments.  All assignments will be submitted digitally and must be submitted in a time.  All my classes are challenging but if you do your best you will be sucessful.

Tools you can use:

I build a lot of classroom tools that you can use to get  ahead in class.   Vocabulary is on the word wall; you can take a copy any time you need it.  All make up work is in the study guides.  So if you miss a day, you have an oportunity to make it up by completing the study guide.  Their are lots of opportunity for sucess in the class, you just have to be willing to do the work and grow.

Essays and You:

We are going to focus on proving mastery of the standards in this class.  As such you will develope your writting skills and your ability to find and cite evidence.  You will write one essay for each standard in this class.  Some of these will be done in class, others as take home exams.  Stay current and motivated and you will have no problem proving that you have mastered the standards in this class.  Fall behind and you will find that you have a lot of work to show that you can analyze and apply the concepts in my classes.

Best way to increase your vocabulary is to read a book.  I challenge you to read articles online or find a book.  If you align your work to a standard you get credit for mastering that standard.  (You still have to write a 3-5 paragraph essay but it is based on what you want.)
